White spots on lovebird

Recently, I have received a young lovebird from a friend. As I spend time with him, I have noticed a couple of small white spots on his tail, and some on his wing. Is this a sign of disease, or is it a natural coloring? We are going to take the bird for a vet checkup soon, so if it is a disease, what should we do in the meantime?

The spots are hard to see. This is the best photo I could get.

Try offering a bath. I've seen dropped feathers from my birds with white spots but it's on the feather, not part of it.
See if that works first.
