teekee was having what i thought of as seizures in the fall. took her to the vet. who gave me some ? calcinate ? syrup. to give her every day for a week then every other week for the month, then just once a month. the seizures went away.
well my daughter does all the toweling around here. i had never done it before. this is what i wrote to my bird groups. my first time toweling. did not realize the subject line would come out so big, sorry.
the fine art of toweling a bird.
NEVER did it before, and poor teekee and i are learning together.
when colleen gets ready to towel her, teek fly's on the floor.
when i TRIED to towel her, she lands on the table as close to colleen laptop as she can get without crawling in it. makes it just a tad harder. cause there is other stuff near that area. i almost picked up a few the first time.
colleen says, ''you don't plop the towel on the bird you lay it on her.'' i said, '' ok, but she's not on the floor where i have a clear shot at her.''
so i put it on her, second try. cause she escaped the first time. up onto my shoulder she went.
out she popped and escaped the second time. i ask what i am doing wrong. colleen says basically wrap the towel around her, don't just drape it on her, with her feet loose. and put the towel over her head. so for the third time, i got her off the table and found out how wriggley they can be, but managed to get it under her belly and positioned her next to my body. pulled it off her head and she got her calcium syrup. so she is done for the night. i put a tad extra in the syringe cause i knew i would not get it all in, being the first time trying. so i figure she got about 90%.
she does pretty good about the syrup. doesn't struggle that much.
took the towel off her and up on my shoulder she went. will see how mad at me she is. but not much so far.
by the third dose, she was looking forward to it.
