@Mizzely, thought I’d tag you because you’re the research queen lol.
I couldn’t find anything online that I thought was similar enough to this little guy. Not the best shot but the best I could get. AC5124EA-9F74-4100-B508-B5D5D73D1A28.png

It is not a bird I’ve seen in the area before and this one almost seemed like it was going to come to me until it saw the dog move. It is a little larger than the red rumps that visit my yard but not quite as big as the rosellas.

Could it be a mutation turquoisine parakeet?
My initial thought was it was one of my neighbours birds. He has some little mostly blue parrots about the same size. I believe they are some blue mutations of a scarlet chested something or other. We called them to ask if all their birds were in their aviary and sent them a pic. They’ve lived here all their lives and have not seen one of these in the area so we are kinda thinking it may be someone’s pet that has escaped :(

Not an expert by any means but it looks like a rosella that "went wrong"?

Yes it definitely looks odd and not like anything I’ve seen around here before. I can’t help but think it has to be someone’s pet as it was honestly bravely making its way over to me till it saw the huge dog walk just behind me then it took off up the yard a bit. Unfortunately it’s gone now and I’m not even sure what direction it went :(

Grass keet? Whatever it is it is beautiful!

Was there any red feathers? Grass Parakeets / Parrots | Beauty of Birds
I only saw blue green and pale yellow. I didn’t see any red at all. It was extremely beautiful and the pics I took definitely do not look anywhere near as gorgeous as it looked in real life.
It was also a little larger than most of the other grass parrots around.... I thought maybe a mutation of one if the red rumps but it’s too big and it’s beak looks different. I’m miffed.

That is the closest match but the beak shape is still not quite right @faislaq

The colours are very close but the shape of the beak is throwing me.
I am wondering if it’s a hybrid now...

The ones you posted @faislaq is so similar. The one in my yard had a totally bright blue head not just a mask, the yellow was very very pale and there was no red splashes of feather anywhere.
The beak on the ones you posted is more flat (like a budgie or ekkie) but the one here had a beak that was a sharper shape (more like a macaw or cocky).... not the best description but the best I can do lol.

Found a free Bird ID app (called Merlin Bird ID if anyone is interested) but there are no matches for this area on the app for this bird.

I don't know either. Probably a mutation? It's very pretty and must have been a treat to see!

Looks like a male turquoisine to me.... minus the red.

See photo #8? And #11-#12 (there's a tad bit of red).

The closest match is still the turquoise parrot I think. Rather beautiful bird whatever it was!

Australian ringnecks are "beefy" birds.... kind of like rosellas or conures....

Neophemas, aka grass parakeets, are smaller than cockatiels but bigger than budgies. "Bourke" sized, in other words, or maybe slightly smaller than a green cheek?
