Hi All! I thought I could get some help here. I've been trying to match the birdies from the screenshot (it a screenshot from the movie Rio) to any of the existing (or possibly extinct) parrot species. So far I failed and I have no idea if it's real or maybe it barely resembles the real bird. Do you have any ideas?

I hope I posted it within the right cathegory :)

It's not that the picture is bad, it's that there aren't any parrots that immediately come to mind that are brown with a yellow belly and face, let alone with an orange top. I'm looking into extinct species as a possible option.

Maybe Society parakeet (Cyanoramphus ulietanus)?

Most likely an "Artistic L Parrot"! ;)

First thought was something from the Pyrilia species... but that doesn't quite fit.

The one that seems to match the closest would be a yellow eared conure.... yellow "tuff" on head, yellow ears (but not eyes), yellow-ish stomach. Body is green though....

The only other one that would even come remotely close would be a golden plumed conure.... which is even less close than the yellow eared conure....

That is definitely the closest looking! Just the yellow around the eyes is different but that cuold have been done just in conversion to animation.

so I think it is a made up species to be honest
Wouldn´t it be funny if they drew all the characters based off of real birds but threw in one that was made up just to mess with the bird folk
