This is what Kita's Avian Vet determined after he did the endoscopy and got the biopsies back..... he said her ovary was full of broken and dying follicles... the ovaries are attached directly to the vena cava so they don't remove them due to the extremely high risk of the bird hemorrhaging to death, and with the ovaries still present, they can still produce eggs that could sit in the abdominal cavity... not good.... it is a very tough situationDr. Rhoda Stevens is an avian vet and said a hysterectomy would not help as they do not remove the ovaries.
Thanks Mercedez! I made an appt for her xray tomorrow!Great idea you had - I'll ask the vet to call my vet and discuss her findings with her. So that is settled! If they do the xrays tomorrow, can they send them to your vet and/or contact her for her opinion?
Danita, Xrays showed nothing. vet is stumped. My regular vet will be in monday. We'll talk. Emily's left leg gives out sporadically so she's in a kings carrier cage. Good appetite. Thanks for checking up on her.Was there an update to this somewhere?
I was worrying about her yesterday, I couldn't check.
