Hello,
I’ve recently got a digital scale for my budgies and I was wondering how much an adult budgie should weigh. I am not exactly sure, but I heard they should be 37-40 grams. Is that right? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

My budgie weighed 30g, but he was on the smaller side.

Budgies typically weigh in at just over 31 grams.

Consistency is the most important.

I would start a weight journal and check your bird the same day each week. It is good to get the weight in the morning before they eat. If you regularly take the weight you can see trends. Each bird will be a little unique, so even in the range for budgies some are simply larger or smaller birds. If you get swings in weight or continuous increase or decrease that is when you should worry.

I hope this helps.

Preeno is on the slimmer side so he's at 30g and that's fine for him according to the vet. They also advised me to feel his keele bone every now and then as it's a good show whether he's too skinny or overweight :)
