I recently noticed by budgie lost a Patch of feathers on the right side of his head. It looks swollen and very red. 17039572372801798832056203124869.jpg His left eye is also extremely swollen and shut. He is eating normally but mainly sleeps through the day with his feathers ruffled. He is just a month old. The rest of the birds that he was with do not seem affected.

This is the first time this has happened and I don't know what to do.

You bird looks very unwell in that first picture.

Diet is so important to health, a wide range of seed mix for budgies , as well as offering Leafy greens lettuces like romaine, swiss chard, human grade dandelion greens , other like arugula. Bell peppers, broccoli, carrots. There are many safe veggie lists out there. My budgies really enjoy a wide range of veggies.

Is your bird fluffed and sleeping a lot? Any symptoms? Because he looks unwell in that pic

Your little one looks unwell to me also in that first picture. A vet trip would be a good idea if there are missing feathers, redness and swelling.

He’s just started eating seed mix by himself, and has been slowly introduced to veggies (carrots, lettuce and broccoli). He does spend most of the day fluffed up and sleeping, however his appetite has not been affected and he is still perching on the highest part of his cage.
I agree that he looks really unwell, I’ve been trying to find a vet in my area so he can get examined but because I live in a very rural part of my state I haven’t had luck finding someone who is willing to take him in.

I’ve placed him in a separate cage for now and gently cleaned his eye with a drop of saline water which seemed to help for a bit however his eye is swollen shut again.
