So far he's eaten a good amount of the veggies and all of the nuts. A few nibbles of bread and zero pellets.
Nooo I was hoping he'd eat the pellets. I know how hard you've been trying to get him back on it after he got bored of the last

I know we will get through it :) The bird bread is made with Harrison's pellets so as long as he is eating a bit of that, we will be okay. I also add some vitamin powder 1-2 times a week to the fresh food so he is getting some that way too.

@Mizzely

Could his taste be off of the pellets you're feeding?

When I got the zons, I had 2 types of pellets in their cages In separate bowls. They went between zupreem natural and roudybush ... back and forth. One week this pellet.... one week that pellet. Finally they narrowed enough to the roudybush to stick with that one.

I just think how I would feel to eat the same main course day in, day out. Of course I'm the same owner that always had a full bowl of food out for the dog. (I like to snack late)

This is a recurring issue over the years with Ripley , and with all foods.

I've always offered multiple pellets at a time for him. It'll take him weeks or months to try out a different pellet, then he'll eat it for a while, then he's done. Zupreem has been the only pellet he'll always eat. I've been rotating through Zupreem, Lafeber, Hagen, and Harrison's for the past several months , and the only one he was eating was Zupreem. Now it's none.

And he won't eat the natural Zupreem, but only fruity usually. And his preferred color changes. Before he stopped eating them completely, he was only eating yellow and green.

Ones he's eaten for a while then decided he didn't like anymore: Hagen Tropican, Psittacus Omega, Harrison's Pepper, Pretty Bird African Grey

Ones I've offered multiple times and he refuses to try: Roudybush Maintenance, Zupreem Natural, Kaytee Exact, Kaytee Nutrisoft, Harrison's Adult Lifetime, Higgins in tune, Psittacus Maintenance, Psittacus High Energy, Lafeber Pellet Berries, Lafeber Daily Maintenance, Lafeber Tropical....

I'm sure I'm missing more. The point being it's not a new issue, Ripley is an old stubborn man, and I'm sure he finds a weird joy in worrying me. I would just abandon pellets completely, except sometime in the future, he'll decide he hates veggies again, and then I'll be scrambling trying to figure out what he will eat. Because he doesn't stop eating something because he prefers something else in the bowl. He just decides he's done, regardless if a backup is available.

A "scraps" chop. I had some leftover kale, and had cut up some fruit and veggies for the kids for lunch. Anything they didn't eat (mostly a bit of mini pepper and some raw broccoli), plus some strawberry tops, went into the food processor for a quick basic chop. Tomorrow I'll be adding some cooked quinoa and sprouted seeds.

Did you try wetting a few zupreem natural?

My zons were originally placed on monkey biscuits that were soaked.

Oh yeah. I've tried them all ways.. Wet. Dry. Crushed up. Mixed. In a separate bowl. Budgie sizes all the way up to macaw sizes.

He's at least eating chop right, but I got new pellet in the mail today I'll trying in the morning. :)

A few days ago it was Chili time for me (not my amazon, too much salt and meat). But that left me with lots of jalapenos as I bought too many as usual (better than too few).

For three days I'd cut a slice of jalapenos, offer it to Pesto (Double Yellow Head), and she would either ignore it, or pick up each piece and toss to the floor. Not a bite.

As they wilted today I tried again. And as though it was a different bird she quickly finished first one, then a second, and finally a third. This is the fourth so she was slowing down.

She wasn't eating the body, she just mangled it enough to pick out individual seeds, but she cleaned out three completely and got part way through a forth.

What changed from days 1-3 and day 4? Was it that they were less fresh? That the wrong TV program was on each time (this time it was Stephen Colbert, she likes the band).

Or just yet more proof that every day the worldwide amazon network downloads a new behavioral template to each bird, and you just never know what you will wake up to tomorrow.

Ripley on left, with chop, sprouts, Psittacus Microspheres, a bit of bird bread, almonds, and a few Harrison's Power Treats.

Quibble on right, with chop, sprouts, crumbled bird bread, and a pinch of Harrison's HP Super Fine.

Ripley has been eating most of the Microspheres every day, which has been really encouraging! I got some samples from Harrison's for them; he has been hit or miss with it but Quibble has been enjoying the super fine!

I haven’t been on in SO long, but I just made some muffins for my babies. Thought I’d share. Top’s Cajun Spice mix base, with banana and pineapple that I puréed. (I usually use sweet potato, as this is a lot of sugar, but I had to use this stuff up.) Topped with a variety of other spices - cinnamon, rosemary, or red pepper flakes. This is before they went into the oven.

@patchyjoon It’s just the Top’s brand birdie bread mix in Cajun spice. You just add an egg and a little baking soda. They suggest adding applesauce, but I didn’t have any so i puréed banana and pineapple. On top you can add whatever herbs and spices are bird friendly. :)
