Aww, Coco liked those vids. She called to Posie at one point (but very quietly, so Posie wouldn't hear her) :D

As far as vegetables go, with leafy greens my birds prefer them hanging from a food clip. If i chop them up and put them in a bowl they wont eat nearly as much. Try different ways of presenting them.
I dont have any suggestions for eggs as all of my birds love them scrambled or boiled.

I've been very slack on diet lately... but I found another option for freeze dried veggies so thought I'd give that a go. Pellets, seeds and FD carrot and beetroot for the budgies and just pellets and FD veggies for Q :)
The younger budgies are far less picky than the older ones and seem to try everything.

TOPS Napoleon has Organic Oat Groats, Organic Hulled Millet, Organic Flax Seeds, Organic Sesame Seeds And Organic Buckwheat
Im going to give this a try. It should be here today. The only thing i question is the flax seeds. Its my understanding that flax seeds are very hard for a bird to hull which means they will either get rejected or swallowed whole. If swallowed they will come out the other end whole like nature intended, giving the bird no nutrition whatsoever.

Big push going on right now in the Forage Gym. The budgies are hitting the Salad Toppers (sprouted alfalfa and lentils) pretty hard.

Seed-enthusiasts Herman & Prothall are patrolling around Daddeh, looking for signs of milletz being available.

Honestly I don't know if my birds eat it or not. I think I have a bag that I can try it on them soon and see; it's been a while. I have always had some differences of opinion with the TOPS line of thinking about their foods so this is just another feather in that cap

I emailed Tops about the flax seeds but have yet to get a reply and i wont be surprised if i never get a reply. Places like this have a hard to dealing with the tough questions.

Consensus after 3 days of testing - no one eats the flax

I got the same results here. I gave it to them dry and soaked.
Tops did reply to my email. They said theyve been making that mix for 20 years and nobody complains about the flax seeds not getting eatin although they do “understand that not every bird will eat all the seeds.” I wont be buying that mix again. Its more like canary food.
Thanks for your input.
And yes, its crazy expensive like you said.

I'll be interested to hear what they have to say!

All of our research and testing with our birds and input from customers for the past 20 years since this mix was first introduced has shown that the flax is a valuable and accepted part of the mix. Therefore, we have not changed the formula. With that said, we understand that every bird is different, and some might not accept certain ingredients.

Overall, the Napoleon's is our best selling seed mix so based on customer data that is why the flax is still offered in the mix”

2nd email reply from them

“Many customers soak the entire mix before feeding and report great success with their birds. Some feed dry and also rave about the mixture. Many of our professional supporters, such as Dr. Jason Crean at BioDiversity Blends, sell our seed mix. If customers were not pleased with the mixture, or felt like they were wasting money on a portion of the mix that was not being consumed, we would hear about it and that is not the case. This mix has been in the market for more than 20 years so we follow our customers' lead and provide them with organic products that they want. That is why we have not changed the formula for the Napoleon's Seed Mix.”

So not really anything to do with science, just marketing. :meh:

Quibble does eat everything else so it's fine I'm a pinch for me. I did try dry and soaked with both birds too.
