The birdie bread is a massive hit with the babies that I've done no diet conversion whatsoever with! Might have them eating pellets sooner than expected.
(Yes, some of it just ended up in the cage tray but I'm confident they're eating a good amount too :hilarious:)
Yayy! I've always thought any crushed pellet (whether as bread or a dusting) works really well as a transition tactic, because they can't avoid getting some in their mouths.

Merlin was the hardest of my three to get to eat pellets (Margo, a weirdo, likes them more than seeds), but I've since learned how much of a supreme faker he is. @Ripshod is really the reason any of my budgies eat pellets at all-- I was so overly worried, but his advice was, "If you've seen him eating it, he knows it's food". One of the best pieces of advice I've gotten from the avenue.

Tonight I'm going to try chop with them for the first time in AGES (I've been doing just shredded greens for the past 2 years or so) and will try to video the inevitable tantrum.

Yeah the one I use is a crumble so it's pretty good for that.
I genuinely didn't know if they'd realize it was food to begin with. I think that may be the first non seed food item they've ever had.

Needed to make some more "little beak" chop! This batch contains:

- red cabbage (about 1/8 of a head), diced
- 3 jalapeno peppers, diced
- 1 bag of mixed vegetables (corn, carrots, green beans, peas), still frozen
- 1 bag frozen California mix (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots), thawed and diced
- 3 radishes, diced
- 1.5 cups of cooked quinoa and grain mix

How long do you keep this chop? Do you freeze? It sounds good.

Yes I freeze it. I put it in 3 day portions so I can thaw just enough to have it used up within 3 days. :) I usually add fresh sprouts before serving

His little face looks in food heaven
I used to feed Bosco and him together and apparently Bosco ate most of it, because it took a couple weeks for him to start eating most of it

Mabel and Toast get budgie seed mix, shredded carrot and cabbage with bell pepper and spinach, and Vetafarm maintenance pellets. For treats, they get almond slivers!
