I got go out looking for Trumpeters today. We found about 10 of them in different areas. We also saw ducks and Canadian geese. I'm pretty sure we saw a bald eagle. It flew down pretty low and was huge. White head and tail. Sadly no pictures of them thou. But here are so pictures I got of the other birds :)

There was huge hawk up in a tree along the creek. The video is shaky cuz this isn't the phone camera I have. Those crows were hopping mad.

The Trumpeter Swans are just beautiful. I've loved them since I was a little girl and read E.B. White's "The Trumpet of the Swan".

I've seen the groundhog out and about a couple times lately. In this area it means spring is almost here. That and seeing robins. Which I've also seen recently. I managed to get a few photos the groundhog. I have yet to get really good picture of him yet. Hopefully this spring I'll great atleast one good one. In the meantime here's a few not so good pics of him 20230324_140210.jpg 20230324_133723.jpg 20230324_133726.jpg

Landed across the yard from me - too focused on looking for the little birds to notice me and the dog.
That's fantastic luck! Definitely one of my favorite photos you've shared.

We currently have lots and LOTS of these -Forest Tent Caterpillars... to the point it sounds like a slow rain as they drop from the trees.
They were crawling across the grocery store parking lot today well-away from any trees or grass and have been dropping on us when we walk the dogs outside at home.

Much of the backyard is flooded with a few inches of water. It attracted some ducks! There are also other animals & birds, but the ducks were content to meander about while I snapped photos.

Unfortunately, they wouldn’t eat in tandem when my phone was out, but took turns instead. You can also see some much reduced snow mountains in back. These ones were over 1 storey high - never made it to 2+, but they just won’t melt.

The groundhog was out again. I got a little video. Don't mind the dirty windows. I hope get better pics and videos if I see him in my yard

Groundhog who hangs out at my neighbours

Then went looking for swans and other birds. I saw 4 Trumpeter swans, 3 blue Herons some more Bufflehead ducks, Canadian geese and I think saw some Common Mergansers. Sadly the Ducks and Mergansers were pretty shy so I wasn't able to get any decent pictures of them. I got some low quality pictures of one the Herons flying. Man I really wish I had a decent camera. Anyway here's some pics, the Heron is admittedly hard to find

I heard a grackle they are finally coming back! There's always one In a specific tree in my neighborhood that likes to copy other sounds. It always tricks me into thinking there's a new species there/bird understands when april begins.

Do you have the common grackle or the Great Tailed Grackle? I just love the sounds they make!

Mostly the common, but it's not too rare to see a great tailed. I absolutely love the tail of the great tailed grackle, it's incredible how big their tails are!
