Iowa has a lot of birds that are likely in a lot of the states i.e.. Robins, Woodpeckers, Finches, Sparrows, Crows, Cardinals, Blackbirds, Starlings and Bluejays - among others. Larger birds would be hawks, eagles, owls, vultures, turkeys and geese. Ground mammals common here would be deer, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, rabbits, skunks, raccoons, groundhogs, otters, muskrats, squirrels, chipmunks, beavers, badgers, 'possums, rats and mice.

As far as what I've seen in my yard - a good portion of the small birds, crows, rabbits, squirrels (a plenty) and deer. I've heard owls, but haven't seen any. I'm pretty sure I saw an otter or a beaver once - was pretty quick so I didn't see it well. The area I work in has an abundance of geese, which are kind of a nuisance here.

Forgot bats..you see them alot in the summer at night flying around light poles - eating the insects.

Please share pics or interesting information you have of any wildlife that is normal for you to see where you live.

I really love the squirrel pics (because they are cute and I have never seen one in real life) and many of the other pics of birds and animals that don't live in my country but I just realised (after hearing about Civet cats being a problem for @SumitaSinh) that it may be quite educational and interesting to hear about and see what animals others here regularly see and deal with in their yards or local areas.
It seems crazy to me that you've never seen a squirrel in real life - but its all relative, right? We dont have Cockatoos and Kangaroo's in the wild. Its definitely fun to see the differences in different parts of the world!

They look like they're having a conversation.
Yeah they were doing all sorts of honking. For some reason the male always taps on our front door. Not sure if he can see his reflection in the glass or what. But when you walk up to the door, they walk away. And usually leave a little..well big something behind..poops!

Not my photo, but a neighbour shared this scene of swans gathering in a local farmer's field...

I went for a little drive yesterday and the day before that. The first day I thought I saw a flock of loons but I didn't get a good look at them. On further research I think they were probably Bufflehead ducks
Hinterland Who's Who - Bufflehead

Unfortunately I only got two very bad pictures of them 20230318_165409.jpg
Zoom in version. The 4 little dots are birds :cantsee::laughing2:

Yesterday we went to the same spot to see if they were still there. I did see about 3 or 4 of them but they were really far away. But there Canada geese and a family of 3 Trumpeter swans. One of is full grown but is still has grayish color to them so they're the "baby".
