What do you have in that little bowl?
I came across the fish bowl when unpacking the stuff from storage. I bought fake "life like" fish on line. If we were to put a little pump in to make the water move, they would look a lot more alive!

You should totally do it! I thought they looked fake, but they could be made to look pretty real.

How about a fake alligator to keep the predators away?
I would rather a croc and to be honest at this stage with the darn amount of fish I all of a sudden have I may need some predators to help me lol

A small group of cockatoos has started hanging out in the tree out the front of my house, this morning they lovingly woke all the pets up well before 6am by dropping a small stick full of fresh almonds on my tin roof as they were flying over to the tree- I almost hit the ceiling and nearly threw my coffee everywhere and then I had to have a little giggle as I heard a heap of them land and run across my car port roof while arguing over who's goodie laden stick it was.
If I can get pics of them I will, so far they have been good at not landing and sitting where I can snap them.

If you ever see tracks and are unsure of what made them, there's a wonderful FB group called "Animals Don't Cover Their Tracks" that's for identifying.

Rescued this guy in the Crimson clan room last night. I was changing papers and I have two heaters in this room...one is between Casey and Miss Scarlet. I just happened to spy him under the radiator heater and thought.. gosh, the weather has been freezing. He wasn't there the night before so he must have been under some paper on the floor. For sure he's been in there for a while. I was perplexed as to what I would do with it when I caught him. I had an empty food storage container that wasn't so big with a lid in the room so I put a piece of paper towel in and wet it. Then I had to move the heater a little to grab him. He really was kinda in a half state of awareness, looked thin. When I put it in the container I was looking at it and he jumped out! Had to grab him again before he could get out of reach. It's so hard for me to bend over with my bad leg. Once I grabbed him I spritzed him with some warm water ( had my sprayer sitting on top of the heater to warm it up) and then covered the container and set it on top of a piece of wood next to the heater. Today when I checked on him he had recovered nicely and very alert. Took him outside on the back of the house where the sun was shining on the brick and it was warm there. I have no idea how they get into this room. I do love my lizards.... but I prefer they stay outside. If it had been a freezing day I would have called a pet store to see if they would take him in and feed him bugs.

Someone threw some kind of food wrapper onto the sidewalk in front of our house, and a whole flock of what I believe to have been european starlings fluttered down and started eating the crumbs from it! I tried to get pictures and videos, but my phone couldn’t focus on the tiny birds through the window and screen. There was so many of them though, and it was so fun to watch! They made lots of noise too.

Then, a ring-billed gull came and chased them off so that it could take the wrapper for itself :roflmao:

The Australian name for Owl finches is Double bar finches.
You are so lucky to have them Aussie bird.
The only place I see them is in my Avairy, with the canaries, Zebs and King Quail.
We have regular visits from the Red Tailed Black Cockatoos. While a pair of blue tounge lizards are residents who expect their water bowl filled in the hot weather.
The resident Willie Wagtails like us to rake over the mulch so they can forage, while the Local Murder of Ravens make a huge mess of the bird bath, soaking all manner of things to soften. As it is cooling off the risk of visits from Gwardars has all but dried up for another season. The mice are starting to show up after a nice long break, so the Goshawks may turn up if the food supply elsewhere is not good. Lots of various size honeyeaters, quantities and types vary as the seasons do.
