Hey, did the watery poops/grey casing around the green part ever get better? My budgie has this and I’m not sure what’s happening. She’s at the vet now.

Hi!
he still has wet droppings but they seemed to improve slightly after I got him to lose a little bit of weight since he was a little heavy. The gray casing is still there and I don’t know much about it but from what I’ve seen it just seems like something that shows up when they just have wet droppings.
Hope your bird is doing ok, is it just the wet droppings?

Hey yeah it’s a wet dropping with a grey casing around it I guess it’s from the unrates making a cover around the green causing it to look grey, I’m not sure what to do I’m trying to see an avain specialist soon. Did you have to do an Xray for your bird? The vet recommended I do that but I decided to wait and try Medicine first since they said the X-ray and anesthesia has a risk of my bird dying and I don’t want to take that risk.
does your bird seem fine too other than the grey droppings?

yes he’s perfectly fine besides the poop situation. His vet said he Didn't Think it was necessary to do an X-ray or bloodwork bc he is fine otherwise and isn’t worth the risk. He just said to monitor them, his weight and his physical health. I know it’s frustrating because he has been having poops like that for a year but as long as everything else is good I guess thats all that matters

Yeah agreed I don’t want to take the risk if it’s not needed. I was worried it could of been a pancreas thing cause I saw online it said pancreas infections would cause the poop to turn grey but I think with our birds it’s just a casing that is grey not the whole poop inside too. Thanks again

Yes, how is your bird doing? My budgie has had the exact same problem and got antibiotics but it isn’t working. He is also a bit more thirsty than normal, probably due to water loss. Did you find a way to remedy this?

My budgie also had watery droppings. I took him to the vet and they prescribed antiobiotics. It slowly went back to normal with the antibiotics, but once his treatment was over, the watery droppings came back again. I put my poor little guy through two antibiotic treatments and got the same results after each one.
I finally found some probiotic tablets on Amazon that u just add to their water, and it works! It keeps his droppings normal.

Yes please share the link! Do the tablets make the water have any taste? My budgie won’t have any water that’s coloured or bitter.

Each tablet is supposed to be dissolved in 8 ounces of water. I measured my bird’s water bowl and it only holds 2 ounces. So I use a kitchen knife and chop each tablet into 4 pieces as best as I can. So I only put 1/4 tablet into their water each time, which is good because it makes the pack last much longer.

The tablets are blue but the water still looks clear after dissolving….just slightly cloudy. They are orange flavored. I was worried my birds wont like it, but it didnt bother them at all. They seem to love it actually because they always take a few extra sips haha.
