Visit to the Atlanta Zoo

Every first Saturday in June, the Atlanta Zoo is open for 3 hours in the evening to visit for free for the families that had babies at Northside Hospital. Yesterday we went, and here are a few pictures I took. (My cameras not great.)

This fellow was so proud of his dinner. He carried it around the entire time without eating it for all to see.


Panda's are a big favorite at this zoo.


A very pretty crane.


This guy was 3 feet tall!


My favorite of the evening...a brown tailed hawk. He was magnificient.

Actually, this zoo has some very nice habitats. I'm not usually a zoo person either, but I saw bird habitats that I had to ask myself if my birds would not enjoying living there more than in my home.

Cool photos Monica! The NC Zoo where I am from has natural habitats similar to Atlanta, some so expertly done that you can't see the animals sometimes! Love that hawk!

I sure did! They looked very happy, and had nice living quarters. I just didn't get very good pictures because the cage got in the way. Here's an example.

Hi Juhi, I did read the labels for all the birds, but didn't have a pen to write it down, and of course, I can't for the life of me remember what they were called. He was really tall though, and just stood there like a statue. He liked being admired.

What amazing pictures. I would love to see those kinds of birds in person, especially the Hornbill. I can see how the Hawk was your favorite, they really have a presence about them.
