My lovebird Shai woke today with an injury, there was blood dried under his right wing. it seems to be on his wing, but i couldnt see any wound so it was either small or closed or its hidden and i couldnt catch it with the look i got.

-the bleeding seems to have stopped quite a while ago, there doesnt seem to be an active wound anywhere

-hes eating, playing and drinking normally. i offered him a bath and he took it to clean the blood off, im guessing, since he has been preening that area more now so hes clean now. i cant get septic powder i have on him because he panics and injures himself further the moment i try to come close with anything.

-there is no weird breathing, head tilt etc. his partner is acting normal with him, and he seems just as active.

-i put him in their cage nonetheless in case energy needs to be conserved, and put up the thermostat three degrees higher than normal. i put some seeds in his bowl in case he needs more energy to make up for blood loss.

-hes extremely traumatized from humans and barely lets me close enough. the last vet visit in may was done by capturing him (quickly) with a net and since then hes been flipping out when he sees it so i cant use it again without potentially hurting him more since he starts rapidly flying around every surface there is the moment he sees it. i tried:(((
-i would normally go to the vet asap nonetheless, even if its sth that can be healed at home, because you never know with your little birdies, and not ask here to begin with. but theres no way i can even trick him into a container or anything so im desperate and super anxious right now. i have been working on carrier training him for months now but hes nowhere near close to the goal. worst case scenario i have to pay 200-300 for a home visit on top of normal vet costs(which im guessing would be abt 400-500 in total then), which i cant rly afford this month due to a human health emergency this month i had to pay. (i tried every trick on the internet and more, but even in the dark he flips out the moment i touch him and im really scared of injuring him further because hes so easily panicked)

I cant even make a picture to help sorry.

is it safe to let him heal it out if the bleeding is stopped and the wound seems to be minor? should i wait it out? i would appreciate any input. thank you very much in advance

Without knowing what the injury is from there is no way for anyone to answer if the wound will heal fine on it's own.

When it comes to vet visits sometimes you have to be the bad guy to do the right things. I would attempt to throw a blanket or towel over your sweetie to put them in a carrier.

hey! thank you very much for the answer, i was stressed-busy with organizing the vet visit and work right after so i only got around to answer now for a quick update.

i meant to go to the vet the same day but it didnt work (couldnt catch him, hands acting up) but i did end up getting him to the vet the next day. my vet was understanding about the delay since she knows both him and me lol (she also didnt make me pay extra for it being an emergency appointment which i very much appreciate her for since she could have easily asked for 150-180 more)
luckily my boy only has a minor injury (i dont know the word for it in english but he hit part of his wing feathers off). he got some pain meds for the next two days to lower risk of infection(ive been training them for possible med ingestion so im very happy it paid off here and hes been a very good boy about it:) and for pain he might have. she said to let it heal out while keeping him in a smaller cage for at least a week so he doesnt exert himself, and he will just get his full feather back in his next molt since it doesnt affect him when flying or using the wing after it heals. he got an extra amount of millet treats after for tolerating the manhandling lol.
also - i ended up having to do ask a friend of mine to help me put him in the transporter because my hands were acting up and i was scared of accidentally grippng too hard or soft and cause further injury even with the towel method, so shoutout to them.

thought an update might be good since i know the feeling of seeing those posts and worrying for the poor birds and how they healed.
