Very lethargic canary

Since buying Gin and Tonic, both of whom were very active and alert, gin has become very lethargic over the last few days, to the extent she is hunkering down in their chop bowl and seems very sleepy most of the time. She appears to be eating and drinking ok but is fluffed up like she is at sleep time. Tonic is still as active and seems to be trying to encourage her with gentle nudges and the odd nip on her toes, he is extremely vocal. What are your thoughts please? All advice greatly received. Thanks in advance.

You should get her checked by an avian vet as soon as possible. If this has been going on for a few days then I would try to get her in for an emergency appointment. Lethagy and being fluffed up is a sign that something isn't right. By the time a bird shows symptoms of being sick, things are often fairly advanced - birds will try very hard to disguise any illness. As a canary, Gin is so tiny that she may not have many reserves to fight off an illness.

I think your closest exotics vet is Great Western Exotics: Great Western Exotics | Avian & Exotic Animal Veterinary Services, UK

-Vet
-give electrolytes in the water like Thrive, Guardian Angel.
-Quarantine away from the rest of the flock
-heat, up to about 80 degrees (but leave room to get away from it.) I use a ceramic bulb on one end of the cage, they can escape to the other end.

@Clairecanary15 is an expert, she might have more advice.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Please get Tonic to a vet too in case it was something contagious.
