Vented Gas Heater?

I recently moved into a new house and there's a nice little room for my parrots (Caique and Ringneck), and it even comes with a heater - but it's gas powered. I know gas isn't great for birds, but it's completely vented through the wall to the outside, so there's no fumes in the room. I wanna know if this is safe for my birds - I have a space heater but it won't heat up the entire room to anything above 64F, and the windows are making it cold in the room (I live in New York). As long as it's totally vented, would the gas heater be alright?

@JLcribber should be able to give an informed answer.

Welcome! I'm sorry I don't know. :)
