Veggie Mix

My veggie mix today-
Organic frozen veggies (corn, carrot, pea, green bean), blueberries, spinach; fresh organic carrots, zucchini, apples, oranges; cooked zucchini, acorn squash (with seeds), sweet potato; Sprouted Seeds; Cooked Red Mill's Alphabet Soup Mix (split peas, lentils, barley, whole wheat pasta).
This is my birds' main source of food.

How often do you make it? Do you freeze leftovers or do small batches?

I make it once every 3-4 days. If I make a larger batch I will freeze half of it and thaw it for days that I'm feeling lazy or don't have time to chop veggies. I made an entire sweet potatoe, acorn squash, and zucchini the other day and froze most of it in small batches so I can thaw it and mix it into my veggie mixes. Kei and Toady each eat 2-3 tablespoons of this mix every day. They throw some, but most of it they eat. Beau isn't a big veggie eater. I chop his pieces a little finer in the morning when I feed them, but he hardly touches it, except the seed sprouts. Harper loved veggies. I didn't notice how little veggies Beau ate until Harper died.

Re: Beau... are you sure it's that he never ate that many, or that he isn't because of the loss of Harper? When Theodore passed away, Charles ate much, much less of most healthy things even though he was a VERY good eater before. He seemed to be eating his feelings for sure (millet-loading)

He is back to his normal, veggie-loving self now though!!!

He really likes his dry food and is very excited for it and eats pretty much all of it. He loves seeds of course. :rolleyes:

I never really noticed him eating much veggies in the past but Harper really dove right into them. But perhaps he will eat them more when he has other budgies around.

We ran out of fresh fruit completely today so I got to go get some more tomorow! Im gonna look for that soup mix cause it looks like something the birds would really like!

I have a dusky Pionus named Toady. Mr.Toad is a nickname. LOL
