It is with much regret that the red rumps parakeets, Murray and Darling, are seeking out a new home.

It must be in an aviary and they must be on there own. It must be large too. I think they may suite a breeding home better as hormones are clearly ranging, but this is not needed.

They DO NOT get along with other birds. They are being rehomed as they just seriously injured one of my budgies (who is now in the hospital cage being monitored).

Please PM me for more details. There will be a rehoming fee.

I hoped this post would never come, but I can't have it any longer. They are a danger to the others.

I am so sorry to hear this. Do you have a why to separate then from the other birds until you find a home for them?

Bump.

Ali, Have you listed them on Loot (not sure if that one is still a thing) and Gumtree?
Also, speak with small pet shop owners, they usually know if there´s someone in the area with a large aviary or may be able to help find a new home.

There's also birdtrader - you might get more interest in unusual species there

Not yet. My dad contacted a friend of his and he is going to have a look to see if he knows anything that might want them. If we don't hear anything by this evening, they are doing to be listed elsewhere online.

I'm not quite understanding the sudden need to rehome.
Many of us have birds that do not coexist.
We just set up cages and aviaries for each specie/bird.
Why can you not just separate?
What happens if more of your birds start to fight?

I don't have the means to seperate them.

A partition in the aviary somehow? Maybe that could work?
We are putting up a temporary one, but it wouldn't work in the long run. Also,I wouldn'd want to cut down on the space for the other birds, as the new aviary was built to allow more space.

Thankyou, I was wondering why is it the birds fault.
It is our responsibility as caregivers to take into consideration the necessary steps to ensure that the animals have the proper setup.
Sad indeed ,this is all to often the case when something displeases the human and animals get thrown under the bus...
:(

I'm sure you mean well, but I don't feel like judgement is appropriate right now. Ali has experienced some losses in the last few days and is likely already feeling upset without members rubbing salt in the wound.

People here have made some suggestions in case Ali can actually make some alterations (in case he hadn't thought of that particular thing) but he knows his own abilities, and let's not forget that he is subject to his parents' wishes and those of his siblings too. He has given his reasons why he won't be keeping them and it's clear to me that it is not a decision made lightly. Many very experienced members here have rehomed birds for various reasons. It happens.

I'm sure he'd appreciate keeping this thread on topic.
