I cannot believe it :(

My beautiful girl has been attacked.

I went too check on them, they were fine and dandy this morning.
I found her down the bottom a bloodied mess.

He must be responsible as there's no one else in there,

It is horrorfying. My partner left me yesterday and I've been crying enough, and now I find my beautiful girl messed up :(

She's now in a soft padded carrier with a towel over top in a warm, dark, and quiet room.

I want too take her too the vet, but ours isn't avian. nor is there one even close.
Is it as bad as it looks, or just horrid, horrid, feather plucking from him?
They have a ten foot aviary too themselves, I can't believe he's done this out of the blue. Needless to say she won't be going back too him!

Her poor eye is looking so bad.

I want to go too the vet, but I've worked with him before, and I know he isn't much use.
But would antibiotics be of any help?
What would you clean it up with? When would you? I don't want too stress her out even more.

Oh my god I am having a heart attack.

look at her eye in these photos :(

She needs a vet, even if not an avian vet. That doesn't look good it looks like more than feather picking.

Flush the eye with saline or distilled water. She will probably need an antibiotic and her wound cleaned up. I would let the vet do it. Get her in asap. ((HUGS))

Oh No! I'm so sorry this is happening, especially now. :sadhug2:
I think I would take her in even if the vet isn't avian.:(
Bless the poor thing. :sadhug2:

Yeah, she definitely needs some type of vet ASAP. Those wounds need to be checked and cleaned and she will at least need antibiotics and pain meds.

I'll take her in right now, and if Dr Taylor doesn't do as I want I will loose it! He can be so useless!

Good luck! I would cover her cage during the trip to reduce stress.

Oh no how terrible! I am so sorry you are going through this (especially with other circumstances). I agree, it looks bad; hopefully LOOKS worse than it really IS but I would take her in anyways. At the least, they will be able to clean it so she doesn't get infected :(

Many healing thoughts headed to you!

I wonder too how long they have been together in the aviary? Could it be because breeding season is getting close and he is hormonal? The only other thing I could think of is if she has been spooked and somehow knocked her head, but I kinda doubt it.

My big worry would be infection and blood loss, hope she will be okay though, sending good thoughts her way. :hug8:

Is there anyway a rodent could have gotten to her? Rodents tend to go for the head... I thought grass parrots were generally rather peaceful. So sorry, that looks terribly painful. :( I hope you can find a vet to care for her. :hug8:

I'm so sorry Casey. Even though your vet is not Avian Certified he should be able to clean the wounds so infection doesn't set in and check her thoroughly especially if there is eye damage. Please update us on her condition when you return. Saying prayers she will be alright. Birds can go into shock so if you feel she's getting too lethargic put a few drops of sugar water or Karo Syrup in her beak to keep her electrolytes up.
