Megan. Have you tried calling Dr. Gordy at the riverbend vet clinic? If it's an emergency she will get you in. Or the Park veterinary hospital in Sherwood park (Dr. Kwantis)?

Kim, it's not that they refused, but they outright said they don't have bird experience like it was a warning "we'll do what we can" type of thing.

Leyla seems okay this morning. Very active, flying around and playing with toys.

John, just got off the phone with Riverbend now. Dr Gordy isn't in today, but another vet there will see her at 2pm. I was going to try Delton and see if Dr Keeler could see her today (that's who I had the appt with for Tuesday), but they don't open for another 40 minutes.

I will for sure keep you updated. Depending on how long the appt goes, I might head back to work afterwards until closing, so I won't be able to update until later, but I will let you know how she is as soon as I can!

i read that a shallow bowl of warm water will moisten the cloaca and make the egg easier to pass..

Just got home!

Vet tried to tell me the swollen area was nothing but a fat deposit because Leyla is overweight (she's not), but I pressed for antibiotics.

So we have Baytril, and Lactulose for her liver. 0.01mL of Baytril twice a day, and 0.05mL of Lactulose twice a day. If it is egg yolk peritonitis (I still think it is), it is apparently very tough on the liver because it has to digest the yolk. I noticed this morning that Leyla is a little jaundice, so that would be why.

I will give her the first doses of the meds in an hour or so here. We still need prayers that Leyla gets better quickly and her liver isn't damaged from this.
