That's amazing news!!!! Go, Maple, Go!!!!

How is she doing with the medicine?
Not the happiest with being grabbed, but when she sees the syringes coming she bites right onto it until i shoot it into her mouth, so really good!!

I've been searching for a good cage to modify for her. I have one I might be picking up this weekend. It's more of a breeder cage than anything, but I think it will work really well for her. I bought foam pads to put at the bottom of her cage since little miss Maple loves to attempt to fly all the time. I found a cute fleece pattern on sale for only 2 bucks and its seasonally appropriate like her name lol. I'm going to put some sort of waterproof covers on the foam and then make fleece covers to velcro on and off the foam for cleaning. I've noticed it's been super hard for her to perch on anything under 1 1/2in of width so far. So the plan is mainly platform perches and large perches.

She might like rope perches? You could set up little rope highways for her to get around the cage.

It's possible as her health improves and she no longer chews on her feathers they'll grow back in if they aren't damaged. I certainly hope that happens and whatever health issues she has aren't serious and she gets back to being the bird she wants to be:xflove:
When Kiwi started having her issues at the end I put perches along all her favorite spots and food and water so she could get around without falling. Of course she would always pick a open spot and fall anyway but I tried and had some towels down on the floor too but she just did what she wanted.
She couldn't really fly but she had great strength in her beak and neck and would just hop and swing herself around like a acrobat and hang from her feet too till she started feeling bad.

Shes so funny with her meds, she complains so hard about being grabbed, but the second she sees the syringes coming for her she opes up and grabs them so gently waiting for me to squirt them in.

I think she knows I don't want to hurt her. She's still currently in the small travel cage but last night and this morning when I changed her wate, that the perch she sits on is DIRECTLY next to, she doesnt climb away and flatten, she stayed there fluffed up and happy and wasnt too worried :)

I agree that rope perches are good.

Another thing to consider is the texture of the perches. I found that the some of the natural perches (manzanita wood?) were tough for my birds to use because the bark gave a smooth/slippery surface. They didn't have issues with the rougher textured ones.

She might also like some sort of platform perch whether it is a pine foraging block or some other flat material (natural wood, natural stone). The main downside is that if the platform is too big they might poop on it instead of off of it, so it can get dirty fast.

Hey guys

Tonight Maple passed. I am not sure why, she was doing so much better. Maybe she was just too bad off. I've been sobbing for 2 hours straight amd haven't even tried to write this yet. I hope shes up there eating millet happily and not nakey. I'm having a really hard time with this one. I dont knlw what I couldve done better and I'm so heavily blaming myself. I hate her last owner with ever bone in my body. I hope she knows she was loved even if it was for only 2 weeks.

I'm so incredibly sorry! I'm sure she knew she was loved when she was with you! You were a blessing to her. I'm sorry she passed so suddenly. Unfortunately that kind of circumstances of them getting better and suddenly dying is not uncommon. She knew she was loved. My heart goes out to you. Thankyou for giving a safe place and love. I know the "what ifs" and second guessing is difficult. But please don't blame yourself. Be kind to yourself :sadhug2:

OMG I am so sorry to hear this. Do NOT blame yourself. You did everything you could for Maple in her last days. Had she been properly taken care of by that previous excuse of a human being, she would not have been so vulnerable to being sick.
You did an amazing job with her the short time you had her. At least she passed knowing she was loved, and is no longer in pain and suffering.
I'm in tears here too.
Maple, sweetheart, fly high, and soar with the angels.
@Miss Annamarie , thank you for loving this sweet little angel.

Maple knew she was loved. She’ll wait for you at the bridge.

Fly high, little one.

I feel badly for her last owner.

Oh noo! I'm so incredibly sorry this is so heart wrenching to read. You filled her last days with so much love and happiness and she'll always remember that and watch over you.

I'm so sorry. You did everything humanly possible, and we were all rooting for her, but sometimes they're just too far gone to save.

She spent her last weeks safe and fed and comfortable. She knew someone in this world cared about her, and that's huge. Hugs.

I’m so sorry. I know your heart aches but be kind to yourself because you did everything and then some. Most importantly Maple knew she was loved, fed, and comfortable to the end. That was a great gift you gave her. :sorrow:

I cried for hours last night, I cried on my way to work because she wasnt in my coming with me. I've cried in thr bathroom 4 different times and I've only been here 3 hours. I might ask to leave. I don't know why this is so hard for me.
