It's tough with an Asper bird, really tough. She will have ok days, good days and bad days. Just make sure you stay consistent, particularly with her medication. I feel for you, but especially for SISI.

Thank you, it's really sad to see her on her bad days. Wish I could just take the Asper over from her.
Today was an ok day, she was better than yesterday but still a bit short of breath. But she luckily didn't sound so squeaky and was a bit more active. :)
I try to give her medication around the same time each day, and also keep her nice and warm in her room so she is as comfortable as possible.

The specialist also called today to check in on how Sisi was doing. He said that if she had a lot of bad days or got worse or if I just had any doubts that he'd rather I called, that he just rather has that I call too often than one time too late. And he asked me to call so that I could give weekly updates.
I think that we are in great hands with this specialist :)

Hi Tessa,
I've been waiting, not very patiently I'll confess, for an update on Sisi. How is that girl doing? Are you still happy with the new specialist?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Hi!
Sisi has quite a good day today, but it's very variable on how she's feeling. She has some really bad days, some okay days and some good days. I'm still very happy with the specialist and she seems to be doing great on the medication. :) on her good days she even plays with her toys again, so happy to see her do that.
She does have some weird watery poops since a few days, doesn't seem very sick otherwise. But the specialist will check this also when I am there again this Thursday. She will also get a new endoscopy then to see how the aspergillosis spot is reacting to the treatment. I'm really curious to see how and if it is reacting to the medication (it seems to be the case).

So we are back from the check up at the specialist. All went well and it seems as if Sisi recovered quicker from the anesthesia this time. :)
The spot near her Syrinx was completely gone and the specialist couldn't see any other things as far as he could look with the endoscopy, so that's a bit of a careful celebration
The specialist wanted to stop the medication for now, to see how she will do. She still shows symptoms, but he said that it also could be because of the strong medication and nebulizing. But if she still shows symptoms after a little bit of time he wants to look further where this is coming from and go further with treatment. The specialist wants to keep close contact on how Sisi is doing, I have to call again on Monday.

That's great news. Please don't take this wrong but I wouldn't wait too long to have the doctor look into it further if need be. I wish Sisi and you the best and thank you for updating us.

I would be reticent to stop medication now. With my Hank that was a mistake we made and he relapsed hard. Hard to argue with a vet.

I don't take this the wrong way at all, thank you for looking out! :) I definitely won't wait too long, I'm a bit nervous myself to stop her medication so I will watch her like a hawk!
Even if I notice the slightest bit of difference I will directly call the specialist and I don't want to wait too long if she keeps showing her symptoms.

Yes it's quite hard to argue with a vet, I'm quite nervous to stop the medication as said above (especially since Sisi also relapsed a bit the last time her medication was stopped) but I will keep a close eye on her, if I don't trust it I will directly call with the vet. I'd rather call too soon then letting her relapse again. :o:

A little update on Sisi again. I'm gonna be calling the specialist tomorrow. Sisi started having breathing problems again, with a teeny-tiny bit of movement she starts breathing weird. She makes sounds like she is panting, squeaking and groaning when she does that.
She is otherwise quite active, but I simply don't trust it and don't think it's normal that she's breathing weird so quickly. :(

Good idea to get her checked out. Is she still on meds or did the vet want her off them?

The vet wanted her off them to see how she would do without her medications, because he also thought the behavior she was still showing could also be because of the medication. I was a bit nervous about it :o: , but she was doing okay for a bit.. but since Friday she started having breathing problems again.

I remember now. Please post what the vet has to say. I'm thinking about Sisi and you. :)

I contacted the vet today and Sisi wil be getting the same medication as before, with an addition of another oral medication (don't remember the name right now). I will be getting some more information about the course of action tomorrow when I'm going to pick up the medication.

@Greylady1966 a little video of Sisi, she still isn't much better. But this was a little treat after nebulizing her. It's a baby fruit cup, it doesn't have any additives it's just pure fruit. She doesn't take any fruits normally or veggies (except apple and grapes), but I remembered she was very interested in baby cups when she was with her previous owner. She seems to enjoy it :joyful:
