Thinking of Wren today. I'll keep my eye open on this thread for any updates from the vet visit.

Hi everyone, I just got home and shes not lookin too good.:( Her eyes are sad and shes laying there. My regular vet called me at work today, he hasnt seen the x rays yet, but I know him and its in his voice. Hes gonna call me later and well make a decision from there. I just tube fed her coz she was tryin to eat and fumbling around with it. :darkcloud:

Aww the poor little girl :( I agree, though, that parrots can get along fine with one leg. I pray it doesn't come to that, but know losing a leg would not be the end of the line for her. Don't give up hope yet!

She needs to get to the vet NOW. She is in pain and suffering. You cannot wait.

Make sure she is getting lots of fluids and is kept nice and warm. She is probably in shock - especially if she is not on some really good pain meds!

Re: UGH! Unexpected vet trip

Wren was perkier this afternoon when I got home. She ate her broccoli florets and some seed. I gave her, the pain meds, and had to leave again. (job interview). That vet hasnt sent the x rays to my regular vet yet, I am really mad. I called hiss office and left a voicemail to get them over ASAP. My vet says the way it sounds is that its not repairable being to high up on the femur, so we may amputate. ? Please dont anyone chastise me, Im doing what I can. I do have to work and by the time I get home, the vets are gone for the day. Ill keep up the pain meds and call the other vet again tomorrow morning and see if they sent the x rays over. I cannot afford another set of X rays, they need to do this.

:hug8: You'd think the vet would have alittle more concern and get the x-rays over to the other.:( Still praying for you and Wren as you go through this.

Re: UGH! Unexpected vet trip

I spoke to Birdbabe and she is trying very hard to get Wren to the vet as best she can. Let's try and keep our responses helpful.
