(update) Bonnie goes back to U of Penn this week

So Bonnie is not doing a whole lot better with her straining to poop. The meds have helped so she is not so inflamed at her cloacal area but she is having a tough time. I see it and hear it every time she ties to eliminate.

I emailed Dr. Fordhamm yesterday to schedule an appt for an endoscopy this week. She said we can bring her in Tuesday or Wednesday AM....while they are in there they will try to get a biopsy of the mass. If all goes well, she will come home that same evening and we will take it from there.

We will find out if another
surgery is something that will help her...

Once I confirm the day with my husband who it he one who will drop her off on his way to work, I will let you know. I hope Tuesday works for him...the sooner the better.

hmmm....whats it called Lactulose?
It is like a syrup, I give it to Jamie. Just a drop as my vet recommended. Ask about that if you haven't already, works great!

Bonnie goes in tomorrow morning. I will know more later in the afternoon.

Danita, the doctor said "As to the lactulose, that is used if the liver is not functioning well or to soften stools. Bonnie seems to be unable to empty her cloaca well, but her stools are normally formed, so adding in a stool softener probably won't help."

Been looking for one myself about Bonnie and so hope no news is good news!....

Bonnie is home...everything went well with her endoscopy. She came out of anesthesia ok and is now at home with Clyde who missed her terribly.

They did not see any obvious tumors but they did see a hardened area near her cloaca that was unusual. It could be all scar tissue, inflamed tissue, or regrowth of what they removed the last two surgeries. They took a piece and we will know the results by the end of the week, maybe even Thursday. While there they were able to cut back a little bit of that area, but only a tiny bit.

It seems another surgery is most likely to happen...that would be the next step.

They all love her over there...say she is such a good girl and so sweet.

When I put her in her cage with Clyde she went right for her food and started eating away! lol

She will be on antibiotics so prevent any infection of the biopsied site....

I will let you know more when i hear from the doctor later this week.
