I doubt anyone would remember but 12ish months ago I posted on here about my recently adopted baby Mr Burns. I was asking for advice for how to get him comfortable around us.
We rescued him from the shelter and he had been bullied by other birds in the avery. They pulled most of his head feathers out leaving only the crest.
He wouldn't let us near him and would rarely even come out of the cage and just seemed so scared and unsure of himself.
Day by day we got closer and closer to him. We took it very slow according to all the advice I received on here. Now he will sit on my chest or right next to my head on the couch.
He will sit on top of the screen on my laptop and hang out with me when I'm studying. He has a daily morning screm fest and always says hello and goodbye when we come home or go out. He comes out of the cage daily and does
zoomies around the living room. He still doesn't particularly enjoy being touched by us, but he begrudgingly lets us and he doesn't seem scared when we do. We are still working slowly on this.
Anyway, thank you for all your advice. We still have a while to go but we now have a happy bird who seems to like us.
