I thought you can't trust the coating on the shelves? I'd love to get a shelf set up like that, as long as it's safe. So...is it?

I have that exact same shelving unit in my office as a play gym. I have had zero problems with the coating on it, nothing has flaked off or come loose. There are so many toys on it though that little attention is paid to what they are hanging on but the way it is made also makes it super easy to hang toys on with quick links.

If wouldnt buy the painted ones but more the industrial type ones that are plated. We used them at work and were pretty hard on them and I never saw them chip at all.

AJ, you could also build a PVC stand for the atom and turn it into a full blown playgym. I have a small atom hanging as part of my floor PVC gym. Cost me $30 total to build a 4ft tall 2 1/2 ft wide one.
