I am in no way a conure expert. I have only adored them from afar, but I do agree that it doesn't look like a GCC, perhaps it is a cross. The black tips make me think black-capped. I have no idea what I am talking about though. :) Someone with more knowledge is bound to chime in.

I was thinking there might be some pineapple or yellow sided genes ??
Or maybe just selectively breeding green cheeks for more red coloration?

I believe the dark head denotes the yellow sided and pineapples have light heads.

oh my gosh he looks just like my salem and i got him in july too! what a coincidence:laughing2:
i concluded that salem is a high red yellow-sided green cheek, and i would say the same for you! i personally would not say a pineapple though, because of the dark head. pineapples have a lighter heads.

Agreed with high red yellow sided green cheeked (I know, with this much red it’s a red cheeked one lol)
Pineapples have very light grey heads and much lighter feathers on the backs and wings, nothing like this one does. Beautiful bird, hurray!
