Hi. so my budgies vent area looks different, It's been like this for a while but I'm not sure if it's okay. She's perfectly fine otherwise, she eats, poops normally, and seems happy. Keep in mind, she is not laying eggs and hasn't laid one for a while. She's only a year. Her diet is roudybush pellets with seeds and veggies every morning + sometimes sprouts.

I can't say clearly enough to comment, but she really should see a vet if you're worried.

How long is a while? It's possible that it is an egg butt but if it's been going on for some time that's concerning for several possible reasons. How are her droppings?

If it's been going on for a month, I would take her to the vet.

Could there also be a chance that she plucked her vent feathers to get ready to lay? I will try to make an app for her.

I've never heard of birds plucking their vent before laying. If a bird is plucking around their vent, I would be concerned that it indicates pain or discomfort in the area.

Usually they will lay about 10 days after they mate or start nesting behaviors. If she was holding an egg, usually her droppings would be different.

I don't know, it's odd! For peace of mind I would probably want to go in.

The weird thing is, her other sibling also has a bum sort of like this. She's not laying either and the weird thing is, she's also a lutino. Her other sibling that's not a lutino doesn't have it. My other one isn't laying rn either.

I will grab her today to take a closer look. I haven't done that because she's not very tame.

So I just grabbed her and it looks like shes growing feathers on her vent. Does that seem normal. She's also moulting.

I'll take her to the bathroom while I'm showering to help her release, if any egg, with steam
