Hi all. New here. We have a budgie and we're making fun things for her to play with/on. We want to make a tree play area for her to climb, chew, and hang toys. I looked up safe tree species and chose crabapple. It's winter here in MN, so no leaves or apples to deal with, but wondering how do I clean and disinfect the tree (it's about 6 feet tall) so it's safe for her? I obviously can't put it in the oven, but I can scrub and wash it in the bathtub/shower. Thanks for all advice!!

Thanks!! That's a whole lot easier than what I was thinking I'd have to do! I habe the large branch cut and placed next to the cage so I know it will fit and work nicely. A little time outside in the cold with our grinder and it will be perfect. I'll post a pic when we're done. Thank you!

Hi, I asked my friend to do it in his workshop, so I don't even know how to do it at home, especially since you have a very large tree. Better see a specialist

Thanks for that advice. We have a very large workshop and mill our own wood for woodworking projects, so we're very familiar with all the tools and their use. I also asked my avian vet if a little underbark is okay to leave (showed her this pic). All good! Crabapple.
