TOO MANY BATHS

Hello guys,

First post here :)

I have an answered question, no where on Google. My Lorikeet, Rainbow, is bathing too many times a day. When I say bathing, I mean self-bathing. He (or she) just go to the water dish, and starting soaking himself over and over. The water dish is on the top of the cage, not bottom (even when bottom, same...)!

Today, he did bath 4 times!! He seems to enjoy it. But FOUR TIMES?

Other than that, he's eating perfectly fine, very active, playing non-stop, and seems happy.

I just find it way too much for a parrot to bath 4 times a day. It's not even hot or dry in the room...

I had many parrots before, they'd bath once in a while, and not even everyday.

Any idea why? Should I be worried besides the mess he's making?

Thanks,
Issac

LOTS of them. When he’s not bathing, he’s pretty busy playing, biting and hanging like a monkey on them.

I believe that it sounds pretty normal for a lorikeet. @JAM

I did a bit of research, and it says lorikeets bathe frequently. Is this a new behavior for rainbow? Birds from a dryer
Climate (cockatoos, etc) don't bathe as often, but lorikeets do.

I guess I don't understand how you know it's too much? Are their health concerns that he is exhibiting?

Somedays my green cheek would bathe 4 times a day.

Thanks @sunnysmom, @zoo mom and @HolliDaze . That's relieving!

@Mizzely I didn't know if it's too much or normal, hence the question dear. I owned many other parrots before, none of them would bath 4 times a day. Plus, even for my rainbow it's a new thing. He used to bath every now and then, but not 4 times a day. Now I know it's okay, and grateful for that.

Mine bathe daily, twice daily when moulting.

How old is he? If he's moulting it's likely he's doing it to reduce the itchiness.
The room he is in may also be too dry and lack some humidity. Not sure whether you are local in Aus or in another country?
