Think my cockatiel lulu is acting broody. She spends a lot of time on the bottom of her cage trying to reach down through bars to the paper to scratch around. Gave her a pinch of bender’s foraging bag paper shreds as an experiment and she was interested in those.
I notice she’s carrying her wings a little wide, sort of waddling, and is drinking a lot of water.
Any of that sound like broody behavior to you? She’s getting egg food for extra calcium and has a cuttlebone. Not sure what else (if anything) I should do.
I just have her and GCC bender and they are always in separate cages and squabble if both out of cages at same time. But… I’ve caught them in what appear to be mutual masturbation sessions sitting next to each other in their cages. My fiancé uses the euphemism “active mooning” which I prefer, but I didn’t think that would get the point across.
