Welcome to AA. Beautiful conures and cute babies. Are mom and dad doing well caring for them?
Thank you so much for asking! This is my very first experience with Conures in general and these babies were not planned...Mango & Jupi got married apparently some time ago and decided to have eggs & the whole nine yards while I was away on vacation LOL I joined here because I'm completely clueless as far as little birds like this are concerned, my only experience as far as feathered babies go, are with chickens. So anyways, from what I've learned so far, Mom & Dad are doing a great job, the babies seem healthy & happy (as far as I can tell anyways). I have been checking on them at least twice a day to make sure they are being fed. My biggest fear was that the babies would be ignored and neglected and I wouldnt' know where to begin handfeeding such a little thing! So it's a big "Phew" for me that they seem to be doing all the work
I was just reading up in this forum about co-parenting, so once these babies have their eyes open and seem not so fragile, I will be sure to handle them so they are not wild when they get older. That's about as far as I've gotten to be honest. I do apologize for the lengthy reply, a simple yes would've probably sufficed
I will most definitely appreciate any input from you guys, so I can make sure these little ones will grow up to be happy & healthy adults. I will have a very hard time letting any of them go and might just end up having a real flock
One thing I've been wondering is whether or not it would be ok for me to clean out the nestbox a little bit...I don't want to upset the parents but at the same time I don't want the babies having filthy conditions (at this rate there is poop accumulating in the corners and it's just not looking pretty). However, I'd rather have a dirty nestbox for a little while longer than ending up having to handfeed these little ones if Mom decides she's done caring for them because of my interference. Any input is greatly appreciated!
Thanks so very much for listening!
