Hi everyone, I had to pull out my sweet pea plants due to illness. Some of the peas and flowers were unaffected.

Are pea flowers safe for birds? If not, I will feed only the peas.

Sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus) is toxic to birds and mammals.

Plant list
Searchable plant list

ETA: if you are referring to peas, the legume (pisum species), the peas are safe but I can't find any info about the other parts of the plant.

Not sure how you mean when you say the plant was ill. If the plant had something wrong with it then it’s best not to even think about feeding it to the birds.

I would eat the peas myself.

The plants had mildew, would it be ok for them? If not I'll just eat them myself:shrug:

I don't think you or your birds should consider eating mildew.

I'm not too worried about eating myself since the peas I harvested seem unaffected, maybe I'm being stupid by considering it. But I won't give it to the flock.
