Saw this photo and was wondering if these are mousebirds. When I met Susanne, I was so impressed with how sweet her birds are. They were like darling babies and so gentle. Their little feet are like parrots but the rest of them is so unique. The feathering is so soft. It was a joy and an honor to meet Susanne. She is the emeritus of knowledge regarding this species.

There are red faced, blue naped, speckled, white headed, and white back mousebirds. And subspecies of some of those. If you look on Susanne's website, she has pics.:) My favorite in looks is the white headed.
Houston hit on this one, they are beauties.

No, not mousebirds..:D
Cuckoo is in the Cuculidae family, the order cuculiformes.

Mousebirds are in the family Coliidae, subfamily Coliinae, or Uricoliinae ,in an order known as Coliiformes.
They are living fossils. Or something close to that. It gets confusing..lol.. you can read in the link. Some are only true fossils, such as Sandcollidae.

Cherry...It was great to meet you too :) Belle and Little sister did not raise their crest so it was flattened to their heads and looked similiar to the bird posted. But mousebirds are more grey and have very long pencil thin and stiff tails.
