I was looking up birds in the Cotingidae family, and came across this endangered species from Peru, called a Peruvian plantcutter.
Has a similar look to mousebirds, don't you think?

Carole, yes it does! Espoecially the beak which I was studying on my mousebirds. Even though mousebirds are considered softbills their beaks are curved in comparioson to othetr softbills. In watching them eat they use the upper curved part to put leveage to tear a piece of fruit from a chunk of food. Another reason that it is not neccessary to chop foods into tiny peices. By design their beaks are very capable of tearing/biting into the sizes needed.
