Sunday, I lost my first parrot. She was almost 2 years old and I've had her only 17 months. I'm devastated since losing her... I cannot stop crying. It was such a tragic accident that I can't help but to blame myself for and since I witnessed it first hand I just can't get the vision out of my head. I just feel very alone... my husband who is not a bird person unfortunately said to me 'it's just a pet bird' and only bird lovers would know just how very inaccurate that statement is. She was so much more than that. I just wanted to reach out to a community of people who I know, know what this kind of pain feels like. I have been very fortunate to not have experienced much loss in my life... but this is tough. I miss her so much...

I’m sorry!! It’s hard loosing a bird, I know how it feels especially when people tell you that very statement that it’s just a bird. Don’t they realize that bird was a living soul with so much personality? More than other animals or people in this world? It breaks my heart to hear this and I hope you feel better soon!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've lost a few and the ache goes on for a long time. If it helps, I still - to this day - talk to my babies. I think they're still around, that helps me at least.
