In the summer, we love to sit on our porch and watch the neighbourhood go by. So I was delighted to learn that pekoe could join us (in her cage) and get a little fresh air and sunshine.

So question: when do you start bringing your bird outside? What temperature should we wait for?

We bring our birds out when the temps get to be 65 to 68 degrees F...the rule of thumb we use...if you can sit out without a jacket comfortably, it's good.
A tip...when you take Pekoe out, make sure there's a space in her cage that's not in direct sunlight (a small cover), so she can take a break if she wants to....

BeeBop is able to go out in his big cage when it reaches 60°. I typically put 2 beach towels over the cage to keep the wind out. At first I thought it might be too cold, but he can spend all day out there and he is fine.
