Hello!

I think I have read it is unsafe, but just want to make sure. Can you offer birds sulfured dried fruits?

Thanks, Ali

Me either but then I'm allergic to sulfur so wouldn't have it in my house.

Not a good idea. I have had very little luck finding dried fruits without Sulfur. I buy a lot of freeze dried as there should be nothing on that and I make a lot of my own dried fruits in the dehydrator. Burt doesn’t get as much if it as he’d like but at least I know what he does get is safe for him and I can enjoy it too.

I will look into freeze dried. ThanksM
The texture is really nice with the freeze dried stuff.... you can even crush it to make sweet fruit powder that you can sprinkle over other foods (ice cream and cookies work well for the fruit powder)

Another question. I have raisins which I believe are preserved with potassium. Are these ok?

I believe raisins are preserved with sulfur dioxide also. I Could be wrong so please double check- either way they are high in natural sugars same as sultanas.

I am careful with all dried fruits like raisins, blueberries, cranberries, etc because it is difficult to find ones without added sugar. Since I want to control the sugar in my diet (lifestyle choice) I don't buy them. That's why I like the freeze dried - they don't usually have added sugar but they are more expensive.
