Strawberry finches

Does anyone here have strawberry finches? I am in the planning stages of a finch flock and have seen them listed as finches who can do well with a pair of owl finches. Also looking at societies and Gouldians. Ideally I would have a pair each of 3 species.

I've spoken to a breeder local to me who has owls and sometimes has strawberries. I've been quoted $250 per bird. That seems steeper than I expected... Are they particularly difficult to keep or breed or are they just popular?

That does not not seem to be a very high price for this species. In the Northeastern United States I have seen them being sold for around $300. Of course price and popularity will vary greatly depending on where you live.
