My Cockatiel, Sunny, has stopped singing/whistling. He acts like he is completely fine; he eats, drinks, stool is normal, chirps, and interacts with me. The only thing he stopped was singing/whistling. I don’t think he is going through a molting period either. Does anyone know what is going on with him?

How old is he? Sometimes birds will make less noise as they get older, or even if it’s more cloudy than usual. Sometimes a medical issue can cause birds to stop making noises, so you might want to get a check up just in case. How long has this been going on?

Hello, thanks for replying. He is about two years old. I’ve noticed he is preening himself a lot more recently, but I don’t see any huge feathers on the floor to indicate a molt. Yes, I was definitely considering taking him to the vet. This has been going on for about a week, maybe longer.

Yeah, it could be nothing, but if he’s almost due for a check up, now would be a good time. Keep us updated please.
