If it is bright red there is a bleeding problem in the lower digestive system. If it is tarry black there is a bleeding problem in the upper digestive system. Then there is the possibility that it is something you have fed him/her. Keep an eye on it and feed only normal stuff, then see what he poops look like.
Same as humans....

I remember one of Oscars first stools at home - I FREAKED OUT as it was BRIGHT RED! Then I noticed that he ONLY preferred the red Zupreem fruit pellets! I took them away for a bit and his stools went back to normal!
