I keep both males and females free flying in my room. Been giving them lots of Vitamin E, greens and vitamin e foods.
Males have been singing strong. Females are caring around pieces of paper and bobbing their heads. No signs that females want to mate. But I hope this is a good sign that we are getting ready!!

Are you giving a calcium supplement? I read that they can deplete their calcium very quickly when laying.
Do they have some nooks or nests? They can help move things along.

I plan to put pairs in their cages in a week or two. I use liquid calcium during that time. Along with cuttlebone and kale.

I only have one pair now, but they’re ready also. I haven’t started back on fresh foods yet - they’re truly on an austerity diet! (Which is what you do for Gouldians, so the others have to follow along).

Calcium,, Vt D, Vit A... just good vitamins. ;)

I'm confused. I thought you'd bred them before and you'd recognise the signs.
I'm just confuddled :think1:

I have bred before but things just kind of happened. With more advice, I became more doubtful of what I was doing. I decided last night to pair up my birds. Started to build nests. Funny, a pair of birds not being used for breeding, was doing just that. They were mating. Anyways now I'm just waiting to see what happens. Others have said what I was doing was detrimental and bad for my birds......So I am taking things with a grain of salt and not get flustered or frustrated.

I’m not sure what detrimental things they refer to, but it never hurts to learn more!

Three nest are up! How long should I wait to see if a pair is going to work out or not?

I give them plenty of time, at least a month. I don’t want to rush them.
