I am looking for two sprout mixes. One for budgies and one for medium sized parrots.
I know I could do a search, but I’ve never done sprouts and don’t know what I should look for, and I wanted to see if there’s any particular one/s people love/recommend.
Please remember I am in Australia ;)

Qld aviary is a tad expensive but an option.

I usually get it from the parrot society

And I have also ordered it from Chappie Chirpers, I think you know them ;)

You could also try absolutely nuts and my parrot shop used to have them- I haven’t ordered anything from them in a long time so I’m not sure if they still do foods

Chappie Chirpers is a store I do not think I have heard of before... I will have to have a look at them!

They aren't strictly a store. They are an aviary who works to breed healthy companion birds. They are located in Childers area.

Can you share pics of your sprout mixes please? I was unable to get the site to open properly for me the other day so I could check out what they had.

These are the two I got (pretty sure it was the large parrot, me and my memory have forgotten already :wacky:) There’s also a small parrot and a grass parrot mix, I can do pictures of those too, if you want.

Got the mixes today, they look really nice :) Excited for my birdies to finally try sprouts:bliss:
Quick Q’s. Of the two mixes I posted above can they be fed straight after the soak? And can I soak for longer then the 8 hours it says too?

Yes! The mixes are safe to serve dry so you can serve the day of or overnight etc.

However take care of the sprouts often. Rinse them at least morning and night always leaving them to drain. Do not feed if they smell odd or show signs mould. Don't make to much as once just enough for a day or two. If you see them start sprouting quickly, because it is summer etc, you can place them in the drainer in your fridge to slow them up.

As example for my parrots we only prep maybe 3tbs at a time.

Thank you!
I think we’re going to start with soaked and then try sprouted. Already figured out how much I’ll think we’ll need in a day, now to test it.
