Hello,
I am a new bird Mommy!
•I just adopted a female quaker whom I named Oatmeal. She is a rescue I got from a friend who rescues and rehabilitates birds from homes that can no longer care for them or have unsuitable living conditions. Her estimated age is between 3 and 5.
•Oatmeal is splay legged.
She gets around her cage fine and seems like a happy girl over all. But the cage she came in is old, broken and dirty, she was more cage territorial when I first brought her home than she is now. The people I got her from actually had a hard time doing anything concerning her cage without getting but but now that she isn't surrounded by 20 other birds in a very loud stimulating environment she only gets slightly vocal when I clean, change food or water in her cage.
•but I do want to get her a new cage.
One that is curated just for her, handicap accessible so she can have an easier time navigating her home inside our home.
•I was wondering if I could get some tips on caring for her in her condition as well as cage types and setup ups, as well as how I should go about moving her when I have the new setup done.
•She sleeps on a corner platform with her blankies (she has a pink one I bought her but I did keep the white one bc it comforts her)
• The video is from when I first brought her home, she was begining her molting process which is almost done. I've been helping her preen it's her favorite thing to do lol.
•she uses the bid sticks to navigate but I was thinking a long cage opposed to tall with her platforms and ramps?
• I am also unsure if I should look into getting her a band for her legs or if she's fine?
