I have looked more at some spnish sites and found out that its wings beat more then 80 times a second and it is the only bird that can fly backward

Few people have seen just how minuscule these birds truly are. They are really the size of bees. Some insects are larger!

I don't have a bigger version but will see if I can find something bigger that relates the actual size of these birds. There are larger pictures of the bird in the wild, but it's much harder to get an idea of its true size when it's in the air or perched on a twig. The video was great because we got to see caterpillars and some of them were larger than the bird...

He may be mistaken for a bug at that size (poor bird).

I am guessing down in FL bugs are bigger than him.

Yes maam..we have roaches bigger than him:eek: called Palmetto bugs.
He is adorable:heart: I only recently saw my first hummer in person, and it was very brief. I have friends who have said they get them all the time, just not when I am over...

Oh I am sure of it, she has the small flowers they like, plus so close to the woodsy area. My friend out in Geneva sees them the most{BFE} she even had a painted bunting at her feeder not long ago. Her yard is outrageously beautiful. She has a 3500 gal pond that she and her hubby built for a rescued softshell turtle.:)

Well your neighbor has a beautiful yard. Then the other friend has 3500 gallon pond! Dang they are good peeps to do that for a turtle.

Painted Bunting? Don't have them here, they sound like they walk not fly to me. lol

Yes, we have quite a few bugs bigger than him for sure. It is crazy how tiny they are.
