Something's on her foot

Hello, I'm a new budgie owner! I have one budgie, as some of you may know.
Around three days ago, I was changing her food when I noticed a speck of red on her foot. I assumed it was nothing, and I ignored it. Yesterday, I noticed it got a bit bigger. It's red and sort of like a mixture of a scratch or a bump on the top of her toe. She's not tame, and wouldn't let me touch it, but other than that, she's moving around, putting weight on that foot, and everything is normal. But yesterday, it didn't go away, so I started to worry. I scavenged the internet and I found that it might be a scratch or the beginnings of bumblefoot. I wrapped all her perches with paper towel, and I'm going to buy some vet wrap. She's a bit scared of her perches now, but perches on them nonetheless.
I don't want to ruin our relationship by grabbing her and inspecting her foot, but I might need to at this point. She absolutely hates water, so I can't wash her foot without her flying away. Today, it's a bit smaller, and it looks like it might have sealed a tiny bit, but I'm not quite sure. It didn't bleed at all over the past few days.
There's nothing else unusual about her feet. She did break a nail recently, but there was no blood and it fell off on it's own. Everything else is normal, she's eating, drinking, pooping normally etc.
Can someone help? I'll attatch pictures tonight, as soon as I can figure out this entire picture attatching thing.
Thank you!

Hard to say what you are seeing without pictures.

Ohhh so sorry I just realized you can't see it very well. It's a little bit redder in person, and it got a lot better today. I notice that it's much worse in the morning for some reason? idk. I had to bribe her for 20 minutes to get this photo, she's scared of my phone LOL!

Now given that I'm no expert I would say that that small mark is nothing to worry about. Is it raised? Is it giving any obvious sign of pain? I'm not seeing any sign of inflammation or mites. Now if it gets worse and spreads to a larger area or it seems that she is favouring that foot then a vet visit is in order but I'd not be overly worried.

It used to be raised and just a bit swollen, but it's cooled down today. It's a lot more red irl, like it might bleed, I'll see if I can get another picture tomorrow to show. She isn't favouring it, thankfully. I hope it's going away though! Ty for your opinion :)

Hi everyone, I checked on my bird again and put some water on her foot. She seems to be doing a lot better now, I think it might just be a cut, I’ll keep checking for the next week.
However, this event has made me realize that I should probably get her some new perches and take the dowels out, just in case she uses them too much. I’m looking around, where do you folks all get your perches from?

It will depend on what country you live in as to where to get your perches- many of us do make our own so that is an option for you also as long as you can find a safe and pesticide free tree :)

Ohh yeah I've thought of that, but I don't have access to anything that will sterilize them. Is it okay if I just wash them (soap and water) and sanitize them with alcohol, then leave them in the sun for a few weeks?

There are a few different ways people might prepare the bird safe branches for perch making. Everyone has their own preferences on preparation. I personally no longer bake or bleach my branches (I do a good hot soapy scrub and maybe a spray of F10 if they’ve come from well used trees) for my birds yet others would not use them without these things done.

You can use a bleach and water solution to disinfect. You’ll need to rinse very very well and sun dry. @Mizzely should be able to confirm the amount of bleach to water that you can use.

1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Regular chlorine bleach, not the splashless or anything scented.

So I go a little crazy with cleaning perches LOL but I would rather be safe than sorry. First, always know what type of tree you are getting wood from. If there is a question, don't take the risk.

I then scrub down with a little soapy water (blue dawn as the soap) and rinse. I then soak them in 1:250 F10 for 1-2 hours. Then they go into the oven for 3-4 hours at 225 F.

I will be listing some more natural wood perches in my shop soon! I do have some on there right now but I have more that I am actually fitting with hardware tonight :) Perches & Swings

Hope the bump is nothing to be concerned with. I just wanted to say hello, and welcome. Most of my perches have come from vendors here, or Walmart online. I love the rope ones that form the rigid perches, and the rope 'boings' as well. For the rope rigid ones, mine have this in front of the door they use to come out every day and I call it their porch perch, since they sit on it like a porch! You probably already know that budgies hull their seed, and the dish can look full but it's only empty hulls. I try and tell new folks that, so they will be aware.

Is it safe to use a hand soap like softsoap to clean the perches? Or maybe dishsoap? Or must it be blue dawn? Also, can I use vinegar and alcohol, because I can't get ahold of F10? Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions LOL, I'm just really cautious that I'm doing something wrong

Thank you all so much for your answers! You have no idea how much I appreciate it

This is where I get it: F10SC Veterinary Disinfectant

Bleach is the method I am most familiar with vinegar would be fine to clean with but it is not a disinfectant. Isopropyl alcohol is but I do not the best way to use that; if you just wanted to use it for a quick dunk and let dry that would kill a lot of germs on the surface.

Softsoap usually has moisturizers in it so I would avoid that.

Thank you all so much!! Flurry (my bird) is doing better now, and I've just cut some perches for her! She's really skittish (still working on taming. She's so scared of hands, but I love her anyway :) ) so I hope she adjusts well to all the new stuff! How informed AA is always surprises me haha!

Thanks again!!
