Something to snuggle up to.

My Java sleeps snuggled up to this toy of hers: Wooden Wind Chime Bird Toy

It doesn't look very comfy, and I was wondering if there is something safe I can get her to snuggle up to instead? I know a lot of softer materials aren't safe. Thanks!

Oh, wow. It certainly doesn't look comfy at all!

I forget what they're called, but there are preener toys that are pretty much strips of no-pill fleece that might be more snuggly.

I think for this one the fleece strips are tied through each of the chain links?


And on this one they're just knotted around a firm, stainless steel wire base

As far as I know, there are different kinds. The no-pill, or non-pilling is safe, and I don't know what the other kind is called?

It does shed a little at first, so I do wash & dry it (without fabric softener) before I make anything for our guys.

What about leather? It's relatively soft & I doubt little Peepers could ingest it.

Only veggie-tanned leather. Any other kind is toxic due to the chemicals used in the tanning process.

Sometimes seagrass “huts” can work too. They are also fun to chew!

Cheeku needs this toy to sleep, it is a necessity!!! Or else good luck to you to sleep amongst all the screams

Also it is very easy to make, just cut some cardboard squares and punch a hole in them and string them together . Works as a great shredding toy too!!! (Cheeku has reduced the toy to a quarter of what it was ). Just make sure to make it the size of the bird.

I have a cozy corner for my bird. The first few hours I had to monitor him to make sure he wasn’t chewing it, but he sleeps with it now. One of the cage attaching ropes is frayed, but the fluff is what I’m watching
Seagrass huts are another alternative, and I would have got it if I didn’t get the cozy corner.

I also have a cozy corner for my youngest, and lone bird. He was really good with it and doesn´t chew it (mainly because he went through a phase of mating with it), either way, now he´s using it propperly, to snuggle at night.
I would have bought one of the fleecy dollies like Karen posted, but can´t find them here and I´m not sure how to make one.

Sleep perch??

My bird keeps sleeping intertwined with a foraging toy he demolished. It is (almost) winter here and my room can get cold some nights. I want him to be able to snuggle with a toy/perch made for that, but I heard tents can make him hormonal. (No egg laying, he’s a boy.) What should I do?

Oh, perfect! Our local bird shop has the Cozy Corner in stock! I think I'll get her one of those preening toys as well.

Well I got a Cozy Corner and a preening toy, and this morning Peepers was snuggled up to the wooden chime toy again, even though I moved it. I know she might be fearful of the new fuzzy things in her cage. We'll see how it goes!
