I feel like i need to tell you guys that he's starting to fly a little, and today when my coworker took the babies out to feed them, he flew out and landed on the floor next to me and tried climbing up my leg:p
I think im making the right decision

If you don't feel like you're ready, in what ways? Is it going to negatively affect you and/or the bird?

Sometimes the universe sends me the listing of an animal that would be perfect for my household. However, there's so many factors that unfortunately make that not really plausible currently. Time, money, mental health.... So I have to regrettably say no.

Man, this just happened to us. Someone had a listing for rehoming an adult blue merle collie... and the listing literally said, "good with small parrots." Now, our current dogs are trained to avoid our birds in case of accidents, and we need another pet like a hole in the head, but collies/shelties show up for rescue so rarely and are so great -- we were not bamboozled by our own impulses, but it was a near thing!

When he came he was definitely behind his siblings, and now he's the only one brave enough to fly more than a couple feet! He's learned very quickly that if i open his cage to put him back with his siblings, if he flies onto my back he's not as easy to grab and put away:p

He likes exploring but only for about 12 seconds lol, I'll have him on me while I cashier or do things in the toy room and he'll fly onto a cage or the floor for a couple seconds and then soon enough starts baby screaming and running or flying back to me.
Earlier a customer was saying hi to him because they saw how sweet he was on my shoulder, he stepped up on them and then i left the room and all i heard was an "he flew!" From the customer, and he was staring at me on the floor flapping his little wings from behind the mesh door since i was in the big bird room. I dont know what i did to make this little guy so obsessed with me

I think he has made his decision quite clear! It just took you a little while to catch up with him.

Congratulations!

Maybe he doesn't know you've decided to take him home. He wants to make sure you know he won't have anyone else! :laughing2:

My little buddy this morning :)

For anyone who knows more about baby birds than I do (I might post this in a different thread if i dont get an answer), should I be concerned if he's still super behind his siblings? They are all weaned (besides one but hes only wanting like 2-5cc at feedings and hes visibly eating solid food) but he's still very actively dependent on formula, he'll eat a bite or two of millet throughout the day, but otherwise he'll only eat formula and no solid food. The store and the vet the store takes birds too aren't concerned.
But I'm a little concerned as he did have 2 siblings die. We got them from a new breeder we haven't done business with before that seemed experienced, but when he dropped off baby cockatiels, black capped conures, and sun conures, they were all insanelllyy skinny and he was saying he fed them once a day already. We won't be doing business with him again and have posted about him to avoid him as we also learned he sells unweaned babies to the public. 2 of the cockatiels went and the necropsys came back and they did have crop infections which we already knew and were treating but they had not been responsive to the medication the vet had given us. The last 4 siblings including him are showing no symptoms but are on a dose of the medicine just in case.
They're a little over 3 months.

He looks wonderful! I’ve often thought that cockatiels are underappreciated.
